DAY 1: Amsterdam

see such highlighs as the Red Light District, Amsterdam’s canals and gabled houses. Enjoy an optional evening canal cruise.

DAY 2: Amsterdam

• Hop on a bike and trek past working windmills to the world-famous cheese village of Edam to try some Dutch Edam. See how the popular Dutch clogs are made. • Afternoon at leisure to experience Amsterdam’s coffee shops, museums and quirky, cool boutiques. Wander along the canals and past gabled houses or experience Amsterdam’s multi-ethnic cuisine. • Join an optional evening canal cruise.

DAY 3: Amsterdam to Berlin

• Tour Manager will reveal the history and point out the lesser-known details of Berlin’s troubled past on an orientation tour of the city. • See the Tiergarten, Alexanderplatz, Russian War Memorial, Brandenburg Gate & historic Reichstag building • Take in commemorative artwork & the remains of the Berlin Wall

DAY 4: Berlin

• Join a local guide for a tour to learn about the East/West split at the Berlin Wall. • Check out the controversial Reichstag (German Parliament) as well as Tiergarten (one the world’s biggest parks). • Visit Checkpoint Charlie, where many East Berliners tried to escape to the West, and be reminded of Germany’s darker past at the Brandenburg Gate. • Leisure time to check out Berlin’s galleries and street art or the walls covered in cutouts and graffiti, or spend the time shopping in Berlin’s little boutiques. • Peckish? Grab a currywurst, a local favourite and kick back at a bierkeller (German beer house). • Enjoy an optional evening Eye Spy Berlin tour with a local guide offering a fascinating look into the Stasi (what was once the East German Secret Police).

DAY 5: Berlin to Prague

• Head south to Dresden, sometimes referred to as the 'Florence of the North' because of its beauty. • The Tour Manager will show you Dresden’s signature buildings, like the Opera house, the domed Frauenkirche, the Royal Residence – once home to the Saxon Kings – and the massive Zwinger Palace, where the royals went to party. • Hang out at a riverside beer garden, order some hearty German dishes with regional specialities like sour roast and potato soup. • Head over the border and into the Czech Republic to Prague, best to explore on foot. • Join your Tour Manager for a walk over the landmark Charles Bridge, through Hradčany Castle, the home of the original Bohemian Kings and to the gothic St. Vitus Cathedral along the way. • Spend some time in the Old Town Square, where historic buildings and churches surround cafés that spill out onto the pavement.

DAY 6: Prague

• Spend some leisure time delving deeper into Prague’s Old Town. Prague itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Czech capital has a really mixed past so look out for signs of the Holy Roman Empire, the Bohemian Empire, the Nazis and the Communists. • Shop for some of Prague’s famous Bohemian glass, beads or garnet and amber jewellery. • Enjoy a lunch cruise on the Vltava River that runs through the heart of Prague, and take in stunning views of the city from the water.

DAY 7: Prague to Munich

• Travel to the home of the world-famous Oktoberfest, Munich • Explore Munich’s old town with the crew, and head to Marienplatz. It’s a central gathering spot famous for the Glockenspiel – a Gothic clock, complete with 32 dancing figures and 43 chiming bells. • Enjoy an optional bike tour on Munich’s side streets with our Local Guide.

DAY 8: Munich to Austrian Tyrol

• Journey through the Tyrolean countryside to a quaint Austrian village in a region famous for adventure sports. • Spend the night at Contiki’s very own Austrian Gasthof (guest inn). • Enjoy an optional guided bike ride through Tyrol’s picture-perfect scenery, complete with waterfalls and prairies. • Spend leisure time going out for a walk in the surrounding hills or take a gondola up the mountainside for spectacular views of the area. You could also visit a local trout farm.

DAY 9: Austrian Tyrol to Venice

• Continue on through into Austria’s Tyrol region, famous for being an adventure hotspot with an option to join a whitewater rafting trip. • Wind through the Central Austrian Alps via the Brenner Pass to Italy, the land of passion! First stop, fairytale Venice.

DAY 10: Venice

• Hop on a private boat tour of the historical heart of Venice, the “floating city”. • See the limestone Bridge of Sighs, the gothic arches of Doge’s Palace and the expanse of St. Mark’s Square (pigeons and all!). • Enjoy an optional walking tour of the city with a local guide, discovering the labyrinth of interweaving lanes, waterways, palaces, piazzi and markets. See historic monuments, hidden treasures and the Rialto market, a local favourite for food shopping. • Take an optional gondola ride; seeing Venice from on the water is unforgettable!

DAY 11: Venice to Rome

• Head to the ancient city of Rome where your Tour Manager will show you the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia. Visit the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, as well as throwing a coin in the Trevi Fountain which is supposed to improve your chances of returning to Rome. • Hang out with your new friends at the Spanish Steps, sit back with a few slices of pizza and people watch.

DAY 12: Rome

• Spend the morning on an optional guided tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. • Time at leisure indulting in a long lunch on a paved piazza or knocking back a shot of espresso at the bar.

DAY 13: Rome to Florence

• Join you local guide to explore streets crammed with artworks from masters like Michelangelo. Discover the Statue of David, Ponte Vecchio, the Medici Palace. • Enjoy a skilful demonstration of Florentine leather making, a proud tradition in Florence. • The city’s markets are a great place to hang out and bargain. Grab a gelato in your free time and enjoy the city. • Enjoy an authentic Italian group dinner in the Tuscan hillsides, where you’ll get to indulge in regional dishes and sip on local Chianti wine. • Head with the group to one of Florence’s top clubs

DAY 14: Florence to Swiss Alps

• Catch a glimpse of Lake Como as we move on to Switzerland and travel through the Gotthard Tunnel – the second longest in Europe. • Buy Genuine Swiss chocolate. Your Tour Manager can also give you pointers on where to pick up the best-priced watches for which Switzerland is so famous. • Take an optional afternoon cruise on one of Europe’s most striking lakes, where stunning scenes of the Swiss Alps reflect back across the water. • Stay at Contiki’s very own Swiss Chalet and indulge in a traditional Swiss fondue.

DAY 15: Swiss Alps

• Take in the amazing view of Switzerland’s massive Alps from your chalet window. • Visit Jungfrau Mountain: Take a cog rail to Europe’s highest railway station and step out onto the “roof” of Europe for spine-tingling views. • Party in a genuine underground 'Bomb Shelter' bar

DAY 16: Swiss Alps to Paris

• Travel through the scenic wine producing regions of Burgundy and Chablis. • Join a tour of Paris with stops at such monuments as the Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower, from which you’ll enjoy great views of the City of Lights. • Treat yourself to the full Parisian experience with a cabaret show, complete with can-can girls, dinner and Champagne.

DAY 17: Paris

• Head for the Fragonard perfumery to learn how perfume is made and what some of its more surprising ingredients are. It’s also a chance to pick up a bottle or two at a great price. • Explore Paris’ bistros, museums, tree-lines avenues and diverse quartiers (neighbourhoods). • Window shop on the Left Bank. • Visit Notre Dame or explore the endless galleries of the Louvre, where you can get up close to the famous Mona Lisa. • Treat yourself to the full Parisian experience with a cabaret show, complete with can-can girls, dinner and Champagne. • Finish up your last night with the full Parisian experience including a cabaret show, complete with can-can girls, dinner and champagne. DAY 18: Depart Paris

Transfer to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (estimated arrival 10h00) where your tour ends. Or choose to take a complimentary transfer to central London and extend your stay.
