The adventure begins departing from Johannesburg at 10h00 and travelling to the Northern Drakensberg. There will be a stop en-route in the charming country town of Harrismith, surrounded by the spectacular Maluti Mountains and the Drakensberg range. The journey continues to Bergville, well known for being the gateway to the Northern Drakensberg. Overnight in the Drakensberg.
After breakfast, you will depart for Dundee at 08h30. Today’s visit will be the Talana Museum. Talana is Zulu and means, “the shelf where precious items are kept”. This is a trip back in time to the first battle between British forces and Boer commandos during the Second Boer War. It is then on to the Ladysmith Siege Museum to relive the epic siege of Ladysmith that began on the 24th of November 1899 and lasted 118 days. These historical tales are a fascinating insight into the past.

After a delicious breakfast, the day will be spent at the Royal Natal National Park. This park has some of the best mountain scenery in Africa and its main feature is a famous amphitheatre, where the Orange River begins its long journey to the Atlantic Ocean and the Tugela River cascades down the face. You will enjoy a scenic nature walk and some bird watching, immersing yourself into this beautiful natural setting. [Breakfast]
Today will spent exploring the arts and crafts route of the Drakensberg region. You will leave the hotel at 10h00 and learn all about the age-old handcrafts and traditions that have been passed down generations. This is a wonderful opportunity to support local vendors, that produce high quality handmade wares such as wood carvings, woven baskets, ceramics and leather goods. [Breakfast]
After a delicious breakfast, it will be time to leave the majestic Drakensberg region and return to Johannesburg. There is a stop en-route in Harrismith once more to do some last-minute arts and crafts shopping. Arrival at Johannesburg is at approximately 16h00. [Breakfast]
