Itinerary

Day 1: Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

Rome is one of the most popular cities in the world and is a history lesson in itself. Key sites include the Vatican City, The Forum, the Colosseum and the ruins of the Circus Maximus. There are many museums and art galleries, with works by Raphael, Bottecelli, Pinturicchio and Belini and many more. The Vatican City has many spectacular buildings and churches to visit principle amongst which is the Sistine Chapel with its Michelangelo ceiling. It is the world's smallest independent sovereign state and also features St. Peter's Basilica was built over 1,500 years ago the Vatican Library hand the Vatican Garden. Day 2: Naples (Pompeii), Italy

Naples sits within the Bay of Naples in south eastern Italy and is the capital of Campagnia. It has a rich history for art culture and food – so much so that the city is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. At one end of the Bay sits Vesuvius dominating the southern skyline of the city. The city has some of the most important museums in Italy including the National Archaeological Museum and the Museo di Capodimonte. The latter is also a very important art gallery featuring major works by some of Italy’s finest artists. There are also a host of churches with the most famous being the Cathedral of Naples. In the bay itself you can visit the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida and of course the famous ruins at Pompeii and Herculaneum are a must to see. Day 3: Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy

Livorno is a port city on the Tyrrhenian Sea on the western edge of Tuscany, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Livorno and the third-largest port on the western coast of Italy. Livorno is one of the most important ferry ports in Italy offering sailings to both Corsica and Sardinia and is also one of the countries major naval towns. Livorno itself is surrounded by beautiful sea and nature with a wonderful countryside including rich parks. Attractions in Livorno include the Natural History Museum and the Aquarium, the Villa Henderson, which combines antique finds with modern educational tours, and also has a Botanic Garden. The quarter known as Nuova Venezia (New Venice), built during the 17th century, still preserves some of its original features. Particularly interesting are the Medicean Fossi, a network of navigable canals connecting the warehouses and homes of merchants which, like those in Venice, had entrances at water level leading to rooms where goods were once stored. Piazza della Republica is still admired today for its unusual architecture. It is in fact a bridge covering a long stretch of navigable canal. Day 4: La Spezia, Italy

La Spezia is a city in the Liguria region of northern Italy, at the head of La Spezia Gulf, and capital city of the province of La Spezia. It's a beautiful city where the colours of the sea blend with the nearby mountains. The streets are full of bergamotto trees, and the colourful and sunny seafront Passeggiata Morin (Morin walk) is faced by the historical gardens. The gardens offer a unique combination of colours. There are numerous varieties of plants ranging from the cedar to the magnolia and other types of characteristic palms, alternated by a large blossoming of roses among wild agaves. Day 5: Genoa, Italy

Genoa is a city and a seaport in northern Italy, the capital of the Province of Genoa and of the region of Liguria.Famous as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, Genoa remains a bustling seaport. The city's Renaissance heritage is preserved in splendid palaces overlooking the harbor. The Old Quarter of Genoa, is especially enthralling for those who like to explore. It is best to travel on foot through the narrow streets (called carruggi) which are meticulously kept, as are the expansive palazzi (mansions) of medieval merchants which line them. Around the Palazzo Reale, many shops sell Turkish carpets and the best of silk. Other attractions in Genoa include the Palazzo Ducale now used for exhibitions and concerts, the Via Garibaldi art gallery and the original waterfront or Porto Antico. The waterfront is also full of atmosphere and there are many bars and restaurants where one can watch the world go by. The 16th century lighthouse, the Lanterna, which rises over 120 meters (325 steps!) above the sea, can be seen 50 kilometers away, and has guided mariners to the port for 100s of years. Day 6: Cannes, France

Cannes is a commune in France, located in the department of Alpes-Maritimes and the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Cannes is one of the best-known cities of the French Riviera, famous for the International Film Festival and the glitzy hotels, cars, beaches, and visitors. Cannes is 36 km from Nice, 55 km from Monaco and 60 km from the Italian border. From this elegant city, it's an easy drive to the other star attractions along the French Riviera. Enjoy the plunging cliffside scenery on one of the corniche roads as you head for Monte Carlo. Or perhaps visit Antibes with its lush, bougainvillea-draped villas, or the medieval walled town of St. Paul de Vence. Things to See & Do * Old town * Port * Beaches * Palais des Festivales

Day 7: St Tropez, France

St Tropez is located on the French Riveria and has long been a destination for wealthy tourists and the jet set. In summer it is overcrowded, however Autumn and Spring are ideal for a visit. The Vieux Port, with the old town rising above the eastern quay, is where you'll get the classic St-Tropez experience, as is place des Lices, which is full of café-brasseries. The best beaches are located just outside of town and offer a variety of water sports. The Musée de l'Annonciade art museum is a must when visiting St Tropez. It features works by Signac, Matisse and most of the other artists who worked here: grey, grim, northern views of Paris, Boulogne and Westminster, and then local, brilliantly sunlit scenes by the same brush – a real delight and unrivalled outside Paris for the 1890–1940 period of French art. Day 8: Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of Majorca, the largest island of Spain, located in the Mediterranean Sea. It is part of the Balearic Islands archipelago and a major tourist destination. Palma boasts a magnificent Cathedral, an interesting historic quarter, Arab baths and Bellver Castle and museum. Its beach is also the most popular on the island. Day 9: Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea, belonging to Spain. With Formentera, it is one of the two Pine Islands. Major cities are Ibiza, Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany. The Island of Ibiza is most famously known for its summer parties, with thousands of people flooding in for the big summer club nights. There are beautiful beaches of all sorts - family, sporting, solitary, wild, tranquil, with deep or shallow waters for children's bathing. Day 9: Valencia, Spain

Valencia is a charming old city and the capital of the Valencia province of Spain that is well worth a visit. It is located on the Mediterranean Sea approximately 4 hours to the south of Barcelona and 3 hours to the east of Madrid. Valencia is famous for its Fallas festival in March, for being the birthplace of paella, for hosting the 2007 America´s Cup, and for the massive architectural project by Santiago Calatrava called The City of Arts and Sciences. There used to be a river running through the centre of the city but the river was redirected a while back and so now there's a beautiful park where the river used to be. This is a very nice place to while away any free time you have in the city on a sunny day. Valencia has something for everyone, long beaches of golden sand on the coast, inland mountain ranges, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, golf courses and sailing lessons, culture and entertainment, holy shrines, exquisite cuisine, good business, interesting congresses and conventions. Day 11: Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and the capital of Catalonia. It is located on the shores of the Mediterranean and enjoys a mild climate all year round.Barcelona is one of Europe’s largest and most successful ports and one of the world’s leading cities in art and architecture. From the modern cruise terminal at the docks you will need a taxi or tour to see the artistic beauty of this unique destination, credited to the talents of Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Antonio Gaudi, Jose Clara and others. Stroll the mosaic-paved Ramblas, the city's social hub, with open-air cafes, street entertainers and flower displays. See its unique Catalonian cultural heritage in the ancient Gothic Quarter, the surrealistic architecture of Antonio Gaudi and some outstanding museums. Sights of interest include the Columbus Monument, the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia (1298 to 1454), the Maritime Museum, Picasso Gallery, La Sagrada Familia (Gaudi's unfinished cathedral), Palau Guell (Gaudi mansion) and the Olympic stadiums.
