The journey begins at 08H30 in Cape Town. You will travel to the Cape’s French Corner, Franschhoek and enjoy a walk through the town; set amongst century old vineyards and a palpable ambience of fine wine, dining and art. You will then continue via the Franschhoek Pass with its breath-taking views of mountains to Villiersdorp for the first wine tasting. The next stop is Rooiberg Winery, found along the famed Route 62, in the heart of the Robertson Wine Valley. You will also be able to visit their farmstall that is filled to the brim with local wines, rusks, dried fruit and other delectable home-made goods. The afternoon will be spent at the Van Loveren Family Vineyards, revelling in award-winning wine before an orientation drive through Montagu and to the hotel for the night. After a delicious breakfast, you will leave Montagu at 09H00, spending a full day in the Breede River Valley. You will stop first in the town of Swellendam, South Africa’s third oldest town that boasts more than fifty provincial heritage sites, most of them perfect examples of Cape Dutch architecture. This is a wine-making and tasting exploration day and the Breede River Valley delights and inspires with its creative expression. There will also be a visit to a boutique wine estate in Bonnievale, for a taste of their high-quality and limited release wines. You will then enjoy a fun and interactive wine tasting at a third-generation family-owned wine estate that boasts being the first tasting room in the Robertson Wine Valley. Overnight in Montagu. After breakfast, you will depart from Montagu at 08H30. There is a scenic drive that will take you past the towns of Worcester and Wolseley en-route to the historic village of Tulbagh, surrounded by majestic mountains. You will spend some time wandering through charming Church Street, that features many Cape Dutch, Edwardian and Victorian provincial heritage sites. All these classic and beautiful examples had to be lovingly restored post the devastating earthquake that the town experience in 1969. You will then make a stop at Red Tin Roof, a cool country hangout, where they believe in supporting and sourcing locally produced products from the region. You will spend the remainder of the afternoon at a Wine and Olive Estate, sampling award-winning wines and olives. The journey ends on your return to Cape Town at approximately 17H00.
