You’d be forgiven for thinking Perth’s on the other side of the planet. Truth be told, it is! Proudly claiming the title as one of the world’s most remote capital cities, this Western Australian gem exudes outdoor trendiness, from its beautiful beaches and world-class wineries, to its amazing weather and hip café and bar culture. It is a whole other city with a hip, land-back vibe, an interesting arts culture and an entertainment hotspot. Both Perth and Fremantle can be comfortably explored on foot or by bicycle, Cycle maps are available from most bike shops and there are a range of guides and brochures for cyclists.
Visit King’s Park, a blend of Australian bush land and manicured gardens, and home to the best view of Perth’s skyline. Other highlights include Perth Zoo and Perth Mint, the world’s oldest mint. If you have time to take a day trip, visit car-free and wildlife haven Rottnest Island, 30 minutes by ferry from Fremantle. The city is also home to some of the country’s best beaches and wine farms. The Swan Valley is great for a day trip offering visitors a range of wineries and microbreweries in which to tempt their palates.
Your cruise ship will dock at the port of Fremantle, just under 20km south of Perth.
