Trou aux Biches is often referred to as the best beach in Mauritius for its sand quality, weather conditions and beachside facilities. The beach stretches about 2 km long and is protected by the coral reef, making Trou aux Biches an excellent spot for snorkelling.
Grand Baie is the perfect beach for you if you want easy access to facilities such as fresh juice stands, fast food stalls and beachside restaurants. The beach provides excellent views; however, due to all the boat traffic inside the bay, the water is not as clear as other beaches in Mauritius.
Situated in the southeast of Mauritius, not far from the port city of Mahebourg, Blue Bay is a particularly photogenic spot. Famous for the Blue Bay Marine Park and featuring crystal clear waters, Blue Bay is an ideal destination for snorkelling.
As one of the longest beaches of Mauritius and known for its deep lagoon and powder-white sand, Belle Mare serves up an Instagram-worthy combination of colours. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to soak up the sun, Belle Mare is best visited on a weekday.
Lying just off the east coast of Mauritius and easily accessible by boat, Ile aux Cerfs is the picture-postcard definition of an island paradise. Flic-en-Flac (which means “Free and Flat Land” in Dutch) is excellent for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. Its entirely protected by the coral reef, which makes it a great family beach as the sea currents are not as strong here. However, sea urchins are common, so it is advisable to wear swimming shoes when entering the sea.
Le Morne Beach, with its white coral sand, clear waters and scattered trees set against the backdrop of Le Morne Mountain, is indeed an impressive sight. The perfect wind conditions almost all-year-round make this beach one of the top kite and windsurfing destinations in the world and a favourite spot for surfers.
