Yes! It’s true… Mauritius is re-opening its doors and welcoming vaccinated South Africans from the 1st of October. With Mauritius being the top destination that South African families regularly travel to, this comes as great news – and just in time for the December holidays!
Do note that children under the age of 18yrs who are currently not eligible for a vaccination, will need to travel with a negative PCR test.

Club Med is world renown for their all-inclusive family-friendly resorts, and this resort might take the cake! Rarely have we seen Kids Clubs that are the size this one is! The actual Kids Club is made up of a large outside play area as well as multiple rooms for different age groups, with different themes and colours. There are professional educators and carers around every corner, ensuring the little ones are having the time of their lives in a safe environment.
Outside of the Kids Club, the resort also offers a separate children’s pool and play area, separate from the main pool, and specifically designed with shallow waters, water slides and more! Mealtimes are fun for everyone; Club Med caters so well for all age groups, and your little ones have an entire section of the daily buffet dedicated to them! They also offer a Club Med baby welcome package (which does need to be arranged before arrival) which includes a bathtub, bottle warmer, changing table, umbrella bed and a stroller (0 – 23 months).

The Kids Club is a safari-inspired tented village which includes a generous playground plus miniature golf course. Family duplexes are also ideal with 3 kids under 18 being able to share the duplex space with 2 adults. The main room is downstairs, and a staircase leads to the open-plan loft bedroom. They’re not recommended for smaller children, but ideal for those between 6 and 11 yrs. If you are travelling with teenagers, there are boat shuttles between Beachcombers Cannonier and Mauricia Resort, if you want to take advantage of both resort facilities plus visit Grand Baie at the same time. Watersports are also included at Cannonier, so there’s plenty of fun to be had for the whole family!
Victoria offers large rooms, making it very popular with families. Two children can share with 2 adults in one room quite easily. They also offer two-bedroom family apartments. This resort is popular with families with young children as well as teenager, and offers a complimentary Kids Club, Teens Club and a well-equipped baby care room for moms who need to clean bottles or warm meals. It offers a long white beach and a more relaxed family vacation feeling. Loads of watersports are included to keep the teens busy. If mom and dad need a break, then the adults-only restaurant section is ideal for a bit of family time!
Shandrani offers the perfect balance between an active and relaxing holiday. This resort offers 3 different beaches to keep the kids busy, such as the Waterski Academy for older children and the Petit Club for toddlers between the ages of 2 and 3 (additional charges). There’s also a baby care corner, and sport and nature programmes for all ages. The two-bedroom apartments are very popular with families and a highlight is the all-inclusive dining experience upgrade that is available!
St Regis is the epitome of luxury with the iconic Le Morne Brabant Mountain as its scenic backdrop. The resort boasts an incredible Kids Club to entertain the little ones. St Regis offers an exciting schedule of energetic, creative, and highly satisfying activities for children aged 4-12 years that include nature walks, cooking classes, arts and crafts, watching movies and musical games. There is truly something for everyone here!
