  • Make sure you are aware of which vaccinations and medication you may need before entering African countries. Some require proof of a Yellow Fever vaccination to enter the country. Before you go, check with your travel clinic about malarial medication.
  • Don’t walk the streets alone at night, especially in the larger cities. If you’re out late, take an Uber.
  • Tipping is generally expected, though it may vary from region to region.
  • If you’re going on safari, be sure to pack a sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and warm clothing for the evenings.
  • Africa is the world’s second-largest continent. It covers around 30 million square kilometres (the largest is Asia). With 54 countries in total, there is plenty to explore in Africa.
  • The largest city on the continent of Africa is Lagos, the capital of Nigeria.
  • The highest mountain in Africa is Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Africa has more than 3000 groups of indigenous people. Each have their own language and culture.
