Drakensberg holiday packages

The Drakensberg region is a popular holiday destination for good reason. Everywhere you look, you gaze upon an appealing setting thanks to the rugged beauty of the Drakensberg mountains. These awe-inspiring tabletop peaks form the boundary between South Africa and the kingdom of Lesotho. Roughly translating to “dragon mountains” the Drakensberg Mountains are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Drakensberg Mountain Getaways

A holiday in the Drakensberg promises you a wonderful adventure getaway. Visit the caves that house over 600 examples of San rock paintings, go on a breathtaking hike or horse trail. Try your hand at abseiling or white-water rafting — there’s something for the whole family. Drakensberg holiday accommodation offers you a wide range, from boutique camping, or glamping, to five-star hotel and spa experiences.

At the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains you’ll find the Midlands, a beautiful region filled with lush green stretches of farmland, quaint villages and a thriving arts and crafts route. The scenery is akin to the European countryside with its verdant pastures, grazing cattle and foreign flora planted by the English and Dutch settlers. Expect beautiful guesthouses, days spent browsing art galleries, visiting cheese farms and hiking through the hills and forests. The Midlands really makes for the perfect romantic getaway
