Day 2: Amsterdam, Lemmer, Harlingen

Harlingen We'll leave Amsterdam in the morning and head to the Province of Friesland in the northern corner of the Netherlands. Today we visit Lemmer, a resort town popular with Europe's yacht-owners and water sport enthusiasts. In the evening, a special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you. Featured Excursions Giethoorn, the "Little Venice" of the Netherlands This idyllic village is full of thatched roofs, lush greenery and lawns overflowing with colorful blooms. What it has virtually none of, on the other hand, is roads. Instead, locals live across a multitude of small islands connected by wooden bridges and get around by boat. Goat Boat To see Giethoorn is to watch a storybook town come to life. The village, whose name literally translates to “Goat Horn” is almost entirely made up of a collection of tiny islands, each with their own houses.

Day 3: Harlingen

The only seaport left in Friesland, Harlingen is a bustling fishing center and the launch point for ferries to local islands. A quaint town, its canals are filled with sailboats and lined by traditional Dutch houses and historic buildings. Harlingen’s beaches are an excellent place to relax and breathe in the salted air of the Wadden Sea. Featured Excursion The World's Oldest Planetarium Take a drive to the city of Franeker for a look at the world’s oldest planetarium still in operation. You’ll enter a little house once inhabited by the Eisinga family, and stop in a tiny blue room to learn about Eise Eisinga’s pet project.

Day 4: Nijmegen

Nijmegen Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands, having begun as an old Roman military camp over 2,000 years ago. Very close to the German border, its situation between the Meuse and Waal rivers renders its countryside particularly lush. In town, you’ll find hints of its Roman roots and Medieval castles. Notwithstanding its long history, Nijmegen is known for its upbeat and trendy atmosphere. Featured Excursions Nijmegen Walking Tour As you join a local guide on a walk through the streets of Nijmegen, you might be surprised by the youthful energy you find in the Netherlands’ oldest city. A Het Loo Hullabaloo Do you have what it takes to plan a royal party? Find out today on your visit to the Junior Palace at Het Loo, where you’ll help the royal stewards throw a festive reception as part of a fun living history exercise. Featured Excursion: Nijmegen "Village Day"

Day 5: Willemstad

Named for William of Orange, who added the heptagonal town fortifications you’ll still find standing today, this city in the North Brabant province is a picture-perfect piece of history. Featured Excursion "The Green Fort" To bike through the rolling green nature surrounding Fort Sabina, you almost wouldn’t realize that one of the best preserved forts in the Netherlands is there. As you bike there from the ship, however, a pentagon-shaped moat cut into the land gives it away. Featured Excursion "The Green Fort" Choose between... When in Oudenbosch or Let's Go: Biking to Fort Sabina

Day 6: Rotterdam, Schoonhoven

Despite having been destroyed during World War II, Rotterdam is now the largest seaport in Europe. When plans began to rebuild the city, Rotterdam decided to look towards the future. Known for its contemporary style, this city is unique in the Netherlands for being full of skyscrapers and whimsical architecture. Featured Excursions Rotterdam, City of the Future With water levels rising in a country where much of the land is below sea level already, the Netherlands has a particularly vested interest in combating climate change. Learn how the country’s most modern city is also amongst its greenest as you get around town via electric city tram. MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences The Little Art Palace Make your way to The Hague today for a visit to the Mauritshuis, a museum full of works of Dutch Golden Age art. This museum is special because it was once just a house—if a really nice one. Choice of The Hague with Mauritshuis visit or Delft walking tour and visit to Nieuwe Kerk

Day 7: Schoonhoven, Zaandam, Amsterdam

We’ll start our journey for the day in Zaandam, where the Netherlands of yesteryear can be found in authentic wooden houses, windmills and craft shops. Then we return to Amsterdam, whose creative and unique local culture makes it one of the most sought-after destinations in Europe. In the evening, a special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you. Featured Excursion Nights Out: Amsterdam Canal Cruise Cruise through Amsterdam’s iconic canals on a classic tour with a unique twist. Choose between... Zaanse Schans Windmills There's an old saying: “God created the world, but the Dutch created their own land.” Today, as you head off to Zaanse Schans, a wonderful living-history village, you'll get a close-up look at the land the Dutch created. or Dutch Cheese Trail The Netherlands is a major world producer of cheese, making nearly a billion kilograms yearly. Nowadays, most of this cheese is made industrially in factories, which not only produces significantly more waste, but also eschews the more traditional processes that make Dutch cheeses unique. Featured Excursion: Amsterdam canal cruise at night Choice of Zaanse Schans windmills or Floriade visit In the evening, a special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you.

Day 8: Amsterdam (Disembark)
