Itinerary

Day 1: Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal. a lively and multicultural place. Pre World War I wooden trams clank up steep gradients, past mosaic pavements and Art Nouveau cafés, and the medieval, village-like quarter of Alfama hangs below the city's castle. Modern Lisbon has kept an easy-going pace and boasts a vibrant, cosmopolitan identity from large communities of Africans and Asians. In 1994, Lisbon was European City of Culture, while in 1998 the city hosted the last great Expo of the millennium. There are few monuments and little art in Lisbon, largely due to the 1755 earthquake. There is one building from Portugal's golden age – the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos at Belém – that is the equal of any monument in the country. More modern developments include the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian museum complex and the Tómas Taveira's amazing postmodernist shopping centre at Amoreiras.

Day 2: At Sea

Enjoy life on board Norwegian Sky.

Day 3: Casablanca, Morocco

Casablanca is a city in western Morocco, located on the Atlantic Ocean. It is the capital of the Grand Casablanca region and Morocco's largest city as well as its chief port. It is the cosmopolitan, industrial and economic heart of Morocco. Among the most visible aspects of Casablanca are the wide boulevards flanked by white, tall buildings. The streets fan out from the Place de Nations Unies. This place is the focal point of downtown Casablanca, and also the point where the modern town meets the medina. The old city of Casablanca is conveniently located, just off the main town square from where all avenues radiate, and near the sea. Casablanca is home to the Hassan II Mosque, designed by the French architect Michel Pinseau. It is situated on a promontory on the Atlantic. The mosque has room for 25,000 worshippers inside, and a further 80,000 can be accommodated in the mosque's courtyard. Its minaret is the world's tallest at 210 metres. The mosque is also the largest in North Africa, and the third largest in the world.

Day 4: Agadir, Morocco

Agadir is a major city in southwest Morocco, capital of the Agadir province. The city is located on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, near the foot of the Atlas Mountains, just north of the point where the Souss River flows into the ocean. It is surrounded by the Anti Atlas, the Sahara Desert, many natural parks, and secluded beaches which are all easily accessible from Agadir. Agadir is an important fishing and commercial port, the first sardine port in the world, (exporting cobalt, manganese, zinc and citrus). It is also a seaside resort with a long sandy beach. Because of its large buildings, wide roads, modern hotels, and European-style cafés, Agadir is not a typical city of traditional Morocco, but it is a modern, busy and dynamic town. It is famous for its sea food and agriculture.

Day 5: Arrecife (Lanzarote), Canary Islands

Lanzarote is the smaller of the two main Canary Islands, located about 100 km off the African coast. It’s capital, Arrecife, is home to the Canary Island's largest fishing fleet, due to its close proximity to mainland Africa. Shopping opportunities for souvenirs include local embroideries, baskets, and native Guanche pottery. Arrecife has three beaches, Playa Blanca, El Reducto and Guacineta. Playa El Reducto, just south of Arrecife, is said to be the best beach. A short camel trek through Timanfaya National Park in the Fire Mountains is a popular tourist activity. The primary destination along the northern coast from Arrecife is the volcanic grottoes at Jameos del Agua, formed when the lava flow reached the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 6: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands

The most varied and one of the most attractive of the Canary island group, Tenerife offers a truly incredible variety of landscape, vegetation and climate, owing to the high mountainous crest which clearly divides the island in two. Giving, on one hand, a lush, fertile and humid North Coast and a dry, desert like, arid Southern Coast on the other. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a very friendly town with beautiful parks and lively streets. The port area is the town's real center: Plaza de España, with its Cabildo Insular and Plaza de la Candelaria with its impressive 17th century Carta Palace. More sights are the baroque church Iglesia de la Concepción, the Museum of Painting and Sculpture and the castle Castillo de Paso Alto. Close to Santa Cruz there are the beaches Las Gaviotas and Las Teresitas, and an outstanding view over the island can be seen from the mountain Monte de la Esperanza, located 20 km’s from the town.

Day 7: At Sea

Enjoy life on board Norwegian Sky.

Day 8: Seville (Cadiz), Spain

The city of Cadiz is located on a peninsula protruding into the Bay of Cádiz, the Isle of Leon, separated from the mainland by a narrow and torturous channel, part of much larger Gulf of Cádiz. Very high and thick walls surround the city presenting a very picturesque appearance from the sea. Cádiz is of typical Andalusian character. The old part of Cádiz, commonly referred to as the Old City (Spanish Casco Antiguo), is shaped by the individuality of the various quarters (Spanish barrios), "El Populo," "La Viña," or "Santa Maria." These areas offer a marked contrast to the newer areas of town. While the townscape of the Old City is largely formed by narrow alleys leading into a number of plazas, newer areas consist of wide avenues and more modern buildings. In addition, the city is dotted with numerous parks with old giant trees supposedly brought there by Columbus.

Day 9: Motril, Spain

Motril is a town and municipality on the Mediterranean coast in the province of Granada, Spain. It is located midway between the resorts of Malaga to the west and Almeria to the east and is the biggest town on the Costa Tropical. Motril offers beautiful beaches and a lively port. The town centre has many tapas bars and restaurants and the marina and nautical club offers a variety of watersports. Motril’s coastal strip has two main beaches; Playa Poniente and Playa Granada. Granada is only 40 minutes from Motril and is worth a visit to see the famous Alhambra Palace, the Generalife Gardens and the Hamman Arabic baths.

Day 10: Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea, belonging to Spain. With Formentera, it is one of the two Pine Islands. Major cities are Ibiza, Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany. The Island of Ibiza is most famously known for its summer parties, with thousands of people flooding in for the big summer club nights. There are beautiful beaches of all sorts - family, sporting, solitary, wild, tranquil, with deep or shallow waters for children's bathing.

Day 11: Palma (Majorca), Spain

Majorca is the largest island of Spain. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is part of the Balearic Islands archipelago. Like the other Balearic Islands, Ibiza, Formentera, and Minorca the island is a popular tourist destination. Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of Majorca and a major tourist destination. It boasts a magnificent Cathedral, an interesting historic quarter, Arab baths and Bellver Castle and museum. Its beach is also the most popular on the island.

Day 12: Valencia, Spain

Valencia is a charming old city and the capital of the Valencia province of Spain that is well worth a visit. It is located on the Mediterranean Sea approximately 4 hours to the south of Barcelona and 3 hours to the east of Madrid. Valencia is famous for its Fallas festival in March, for being the birthplace of paella, for hosting the 2007 America´s Cup, and for the massive architectural project by Santiago Calatrava called The City of Arts and Sciences. There used to be a river running through the centre of the city but the river was redirected a while back and so now there's a beautiful park where the river used to be. This is a very nice place to while away any free time you have in the city on a sunny day. Valencia has something for everyone, long beaches of golden sand on the coast, inland mountain ranges, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, golf courses and sailing lessons, culture and entertainment, holy shrines, exquisite cuisine, good business, interesting congresses and conventions.

Day 13: Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and the capital of Catalonia. It is located on the shores of the Mediterranean and enjoys a mild climate all year round.Barcelona is one of Europe’s largest and most successful ports and one of the world’s leading cities in art and architecture. From the modern cruise terminal at the docks you will need a taxi or tour to see the artistic beauty of this unique destination, credited to the talents of Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Antonio Gaudi, Jose Clara and others. Stroll the mosaic-paved Ramblas, the city's social hub, with open-air cafes, street entertainers and flower displays. See its unique Catalonian cultural heritage in the ancient Gothic Quarter, the surrealistic architecture of Antonio Gaudi and some outstanding museums. Sights of interest include the Columbus Monument, the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia (1298 to 1454), the Maritime Museum, Picasso Gallery, La Sagrada Familia (Gaudi's unfinished cathedral), Palau Guell (Gaudi mansion) and the Olympic stadiums.
