Explore the splendour of Victoria Falls

Experience one of the natural wonders of the world when you visit Victoria Falls on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls, also known as “Mosi-oa-Tunya” which translates as ‘the Smoke that Thunders’, is the largest sheet of falling water in the world. While you may find yourself staring in awe for hours at the Falls, there are numerous other activities to enjoy in the surrounding area. There are hiking trails (imagine the views), horse riding excursions, sunset cruises on the Zambezi River, game drives, canoeing —the list goes on and on.

Let's get you on your very own safari holiday in Zimbabwe, or nearby Botswana or Mozambique.

Travel to Victoria Falls

A Victoria Falls holiday is one full of excitement, adventure and adrenalin-pumping fun! The Victoria Falls is located along the Zambezi River. The surrounding vegetation is lush and abundant with wildlife.

Your trip would be incomplete without a visit to one of the nearby game reserves, or even a few days in neighbouring Chobe National Park just over the border in Botswana. Even a relaxing sunset cruise allows you to spot elephant and other wildlife on the banks, all while you sip on a delicious local cocktail.

Victoria Falls is known as Africa’s Adventure Capital for good reason:

  • Take a helicopter or a microlight flight over the Falls. Witness the mighty waterfall in all her glory.
  • Go white water rafting. Experienced guides will take you on an adrenalin pumping experience in the ‘boiling pot’
  • Enjoy a classic sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.
  • Find your thrill with either bridge swinging or bungee jumping.
  • Embark on a safari experience as you go on a day trip to Chobe National Park.
  • For an incredible view and experience, dip your toe (or your whole body) into the legendary Devil’s Pool.
  • Book activities in advance to ensure their availability.
  • Make Victoria Falls a family holiday. There is plenty to do and see for the whole family.
  • Be sure to visit the Knife Edge Bridge for a spectacular view of the Falls.
  • Pack a raincoat! You’ll also want to take sunscreen and a hat along as the sun can be quite intense.
  • The best time to visit Victoria Falls in between February and May, this is directly after the rainy season and the water flowing will be at its greatest.
  • If you want to combine your Victoria Falls holiday with a safari holiday then the best time to enjoy both is a bit later, from June to August.
  • Victoria Falls is interesting geographically as it lies between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
  • While Victoria Falls is the largest sheet of falling water in the world, it is not the highest or the widest. It is still very impressive at 1708 metres wide and 108 metres high.
  • Feast your eyes on a rare ‘moonbow’ when the sun sets and the moon is full. Light bouncing off the moon allows you to experience a rainbow at night.
