Budapest

Leaving the Iron Curtain behind, Budapest treats visitors to a refreshing and vibrant city break. So deserving is Budapest of its status as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, that it has been nicknamed the Paris of the East…
But there’s more to Budapest than its beautiful scenery and astounding heritage. The city exudes a youthful spirit with its world-class music scene and pulsating nightlife.
Budapest is easy to navigate on foot and you’ll find many of the city’s tourist attractions within walking distance of each other. There is an extensive public transport system however, including three metro lines, buses and trams. Visitors can buy a public transportation map at any BKV (Budapest Transport Limited Company) ticket sales desk and if you’re staying for a few days invest in a travel card as it is cheaper than buying single tickets. The 1896 historic Metro 1 or Millennium Subway connects the Városliget (City park) with touristy Vörösmarty Tér in Pest center, passing the Opera and Heroes' Square, as it mostly follows the majestic boulevard Andrássy út. Although the stylish vehicles are not original, the renovated, tile covered stations retain a historical atmosphere.
