Make it a family decision. Get the kids to help choose the destination. You can explore a map together and get them excited about the family holiday.
If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking on your holiday remember not to overdo it for the little ones.
Discuss with your partner beforehand about time for yourselves. If this is a high priority a resort holiday with childcare facilities might be the perfect answer for you.
If you’re travelling to an exotic location make sure you book the doctor’s appointment in advance for the necessary injections or medication required.
Pack a medical kit with you. Your family will thank you when you’re prepared with pain-killers, plasters, antihistamine cream and tweezers.
Travel insurance is vital. Make sure it covers medical treatment, repatriation, belongings and cancellations.
Always have water and a snack prepared for your kids to help make a long journey a little easier. A nap will go a long way too.
Take photos of your travel documents just incase you lose anything. Send these pics to a family member or friend not travelling with you should your phone get lost or stolen too.
Take your children’s birth certificates with you (especially if they have a different surname to you) as it can help make things easier at border controls.
Most of all remember to have fun and enjoy yourselves.
